Junior Golf
JUNIOR GOLF PROGRAMS
Golf is a continually growing sport among juniors, and is becoming a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy. While learning with family is a great introduction to the game, it is better to get your junior started through camps and instruction to avoid creating bad habits that haunt many of us. Many DSGA member clubs in Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Maryland offer a variety of junior programs throughout the summer. These programs are an introduction to the fundamentals of golf, golf course etiquette, and provide life skills that juniors will be able to take with them throughout their lives. Though some of our clubs only offer their junior programs to members, the programs listed below are open to members and non-members. If you are interested in year-round instructions for your junior you can contact the clubs individually or The First Tee of Delaware, which offers a variety of programs for both boys and girls throughout the State.
The Delaware Amateur Championship will be held Wednesday and Thursday, June 30th & July 1st, at Maple Dale Country Club, in Dover, Delaware. This event consists of two 18 hole rounds, with a separate boys and girls competition.
The field is split into age group categories, beginning with age 12 and continuing through age 18. This Championship is open to golfers who are at least 12 years old*, who have not reached their 19th birthday as of June 30, 2010 and are not currently attending college.
Players must be either a member of a member club or a resident of the State of Delaware.
* Under 12 years old: Consideration will be given for contestants under 12 years old.
For consideration, players must have a reasonable understanding of the rules, golf course etiquette, must be able to carry a bag of clubs for 18 holes while maintaining the pace of play and must be authorized and approved by the DSGA.
